SkullCandy packs an MP3 player into their latest headphones

Written by admin on January 11th, 2008 in Gadgets.

MP3 players are one of my favorite gadgets of all-time. Back in the day I used to carry around my portable CD player almost everywhere. I believe there was a time that I had a cassette player, but I would have been pretty young. But CD players were bulky, they skipped and they required you to carry around one of those annoying CD wallets as well. With an MP3 player, you just load it up with tunes from your computer, grab your headphones and you’re good to go. Now wouldn’t it be great if we could trim that down to just the headphones?

That’s what SkullCandy has decided to do. Their newest headphones feature a slot for an SD card. Just pop in a card that’s loaded with your music and that’s it. There are controls on the side of one earphone, but no display.

There aren’t a lot of details about this product just yet, however, we do know that the headphones are rechargeable (I’d guess from a USB cable) and will accept any size SD card. I would like to know if you can use these as headphones with a different device. It would be pretty cool of you could also hook these up to your PC. I don’t see any place for a cable (other than USB I believe). No word on pricing or availibility.
