Cybertron’s new notebook looks mighty familiar
Have you been considering the purchase of an Asus Eee PC, but thought “that’s too cheap,” and decided against it? With a price tag of $299 for the 2GB version, who could blame you? Don’t worry, CybertronPC is here to help you out. You’ll notice that the picture above looks like a black Asus Eee PC, only with a giant hand and a Cyberton logo. If you were to dig a little deeper and check out the specs, you’d soon realize that it is in fact identical. You’ll get an Intel Celeron M 910GML, 512MB of DDR2, 2GB of SSD storage and a 7-inch screen. The real difference here is that you’ll have to fork over $349 instead of $299 for an identical Eee PC. Mitsubishi’s XL1550U and XL2550U projectors: right at home outside of homes
Posted Jan 29th 2008 5:39PM by Darren MurphFiled under: Displays, Home Entertainment We’ll be straight with you — Mitsubishi’s latest duo isn’t exactly cut out for in-home use, but that’s not to say it wouldn’t be the source of copious quantities of enjoyment if you snagged one from the supply closet one weekend. Without further ado, we present the XL1550U, which features an XGA (1,024 x 768) resolution, 3,100 ANSI lumens and a lamp life of up to 5,000 hours. Moving on, we’ve got the XL2550U, which touts the same resolution but offers up 4,000 ANSI lumens, the firm’s new BrightEra LCD panels and a lamp good for around 4,000 hours of use. Pro RaceTrainer Takes Racing Sims to the Next Level
For the latest info on the coolest gadgets, emerging technology and wired madness, subscribe to our full news feed or have it delivered to your inbox. Always free. Always unique. Thanks for visiting!  The Pro Race Trainer looks a little overpowered for most racing game fans. The aluminum chassis is lightweight at 75kg, sports a PC backbone (no word on specs) and seems to be designed to prepare people for real racing rather than merely satisfying a Gran Turismo jones. When I look at the Pro RaceTrainer, I cannot help but think that it looks like something that most people with a little bit of technical knowhow could manage. The key is the software more than the equipment. (Read the full post about ‘Pro RaceTrainer Takes Racing Sims to the Next Level’…)

KDDI touts speedy upgrade to IR transfer technology
Posted Jan 29th 2008 11:39AM by Donald MelansonFiled under: Cellphones, Wireless We’re going to hazard a guess that it’s been a while since most of you used good ‘ol IrDA to transfer any data to your cellphone, but it looks like the folks at KDDI have got themselves on an old school kick, and they’re now looking to bring the technology back to some of its former glory. To that end, the company recently revealed its progress on a new form of the technology that upgrades transfer speeds to a full 1Gbps, or about 250 times faster than the previous limit. That’s apparently possible by replacing the standard LED with a new speedy new semiconductor laser, which gets paired with some nonvolatile memory to ensure that burst of data doesn’t get lost along the way. Air purifiers under fire for ozone emission
Posted Jan 29th 2008 8:47AM by Evan BlassFiled under: Household Normally we’re supposed to be concerned about depleting ozone levels to the point where we inhabit one big sauna, but according to an investigative piece by the Wall Street Journal (subscription required), household air purifiers which produce the gas as a byproduct may also pose a significant threat. Studies cited by the Journal suggest that both ozone generation as well as filtration models can emit dangerous levels of the reactive gas, which can be harmful either when inhaled directly or when combined with other common chemicals. JVC’s getting our minds in a tizzy today with two new HD camcorders that are compact for carrying and big on resolution. Both the GZ-HD5 (available in black and silver) and the GZ-HD6 (just silver) each capture video at 1,920 x 1,080 and feature Genessa technology, HDMI, component, i.LINK and mini-USB connectors, an SDHC slot and audio in / out to boot. The only major difference between the two is the internal hard drive: with the HD5, you’ll get 60GB to store all sorts of antics on, while you can double that with the extra capacious HD6. When Star Wars Meets Transformers : Darth Vader to Death Star
Toys are not only for the little boys. There are toys that could fascinate adults as well. Just take a look at this cool new toy called the Transforming Death Star. The idea of the toy is simple – and that is to mesh the powers of Darth Vader with the skills of the Transformers. This toy is so amazing that robot fanatics, regardless of their ages and preferences, would definitely want to own one. The Transforming Death Star has the ability to change from a Death Star into the feared Darth Vader, and then back again. But if you think that that is everything the toy can do, then you’re terribly mistaken. The toy is also created with movie-accurate speech, lights, and sounds, to say very the least.
