Barz Optics Reader Sunglasses

Written by admin on Tuesday, February 5th, 2008 in Gadgets.

They say that necessity is the mother of all invention, and it could not be any truer for Australian Kevin Barr who realized that there is actually a need for purpose-built eye protection for folks involved in the extreme water sport market, and hence his brainchild in starting Barz Optics. This company kickstarted an innovation process that has not looked back since its humble beginnings, offering a wide range of products that help keep your eyes safe no matter what extreme sport you are involved in, protecting against a variety of elements such as wind, salt, water, dust, sand and glare.

Nokia launches the 8GB N95 in copper?
It appears that without any formal notice that Nokia has added a new flavor to the 8GB N95 lineup. Online retailer Plemix has a copper colored 8GB N95 available for $689.00, which is a slight premium over the standard black version. Based on pictures it appears that the copper version is similar to the recent white model in that the color change is only on the backside. Tankpitstop Automatically Fills ‘er Up

Anyone remember that scene in Back to the Future II when Marty looks at a gas station and sees a robot pump gas into a car? He was apparently in the year 2015, but we have this technology this year. A few Dutch inventors have created the Tankpitstop, a device that uses multiple sensors and a database of cars to pump the gas while the human sits in the car and waits. This device costs $111,100, and can somehow open the gas flap, unscrew the cap, and then fill the tank. Apparently, the inspiration came from when developer Nico van Staveren saw a robotic arm milking a cow. I guess he figured that if a robot can milk a cow, it can pump the gas. Nokia 7900 Prism Review - CNET UK
CNET UK reviews the Nokia 7900 Prism and writes, “For a 2-megapixel camera picture quality was good but it did take a long time to actually save the picture once it had been taken. It’s perfectly suitable for MMS messaging and small prints but don’t expect great shots in low light.” Read more about the Nokia 7900 Prism. Lenovo’s tiny new laptop adapter brick plays nice with others
Posted Feb 5th 2008 11:06AM by Paul MillerFiled under: Laptops, Peripherals Lenovo seems to think this whole “brick” terminology for laptop power adapters is some sort of slight on the good name of AC/DC adaptation, and is releasing a slim new combo adapter to fight that negative stereotype perpetrated by a biased media. The new $119 90W brick measures a half-inch thick and is about the size of a deck of playing cards. It can power your ThinkPad, IdeaPad or Lenovo 3000, but is also built to charge most phones and PDAs, and some music players if you buy the optional connector tips. Dean Kamen’s “Luke” artificial arm gets demoed on video
Posted Feb 5th 2008 3:53PM by Donald MelansonFiled under: Robots, Wearables It’s still awaiting formal clinical trials, but Dean Kamen’s so-called “Luke” artificial arm has already gone through its share of tests, which we can now thankfully catch a glimpse of courtesy of a new video from the folks at IEEE Spectrum Online. That same video also helpfully provides a few more details on the arm, including word that it can be controlled through a variety of means including foot pedals, nerves or muscles, and that it packs force feedback to give the wearer an indication of grip strength, among other suitably sci-fi-like things. Of course, none of this exactly does the arm justice, so be sure to check o (Read the full post about ‘Dean Kamen’s “Luke” artificial arm gets demoed on video’…)

Autobot Flashing T-Shirt
The Transformers movie was a hit a few months ago, and for the fans that still want more goodies from the giant robots, here comes the Autobot Flashing T-Shirt. The shirt has a small battery located on the bottom, that works with 2AA batteries and provides the energy needed for the lights to flash in different sequences, which in the end results in displaying the Autobot logo. In case you don’t want a glowing T-Shirt, just turn off the battery and it looks like a normal shirt. Priced at 19, the Autobot Flashing T-Shirt is available in 4 different sizes, and can be used by kids, teens, adults. (Read the full post about ‘Autobot Flashing T-Shirt’…)

Palm Treo 755p (Verizon) Review - PC Mag

Written by admin on Tuesday, February 5th, 2008 in Gadgets.

Palm Treo 755p (Verizon) Review - PC Mag
PC Mag reviews the Palm Treo 755p (Verizon) and writes, “The 755p doesn’t allow for voice dialing or stereo music over Bluetooth—two more knocks against it. Its camera is old news, too, with a 1.3-megapixel sensor and no autofocus or LED flash. The handset took middling, pixelated photos and recorded shaky video at 352-by-288-pixel resolution. The built-in Pocket Tunes plays MP3 files; Palm thoughtfully includes in the box a pair of stereo earbuds with a built-in mic, which is helpful since all Palm Treo connectors are proprietary. The miniSD slot read and wrote files to a Kingston 4GB miniSDHC card without any problems.” Read more about the Palm Treo 755p.
