Kojinsha mini notebook to compete with ASUS Eee PC
The well-received Eee PC by Asus, the mini PC with the mini price tag that Laptop Magazine called “the best value-priced notebook on the planet,” has inspired competition, including the soon to be released Kojinsha E8 subnotebook. It runs on Windows XP, with a AMD Goede LX800 processor and 512MB of memory. Other features include touch screen (1024×600 resolution), built-in stereo speaker, memory card slot, USB port, and 3.5 hours of continuous use time. Due to be released at the end of this month, it’ll be priced between $529 and $635, which is over $100 more than the price of the Eee PC, which sells for $399 at Amazon. Via Aving.net. AT&T joins the party, adds $99 unlimited calling plan
With Verizon Wireless, Sprint and Helio recently advertising unlimited calling plans AT&T must have felt left out. They have since announced their own unlimited calling plan, which will be available February 22 and cost just $99 per month. The plan will be open to both new and existing users but is going to be available for a limited selection of phones. AT&T’s unlimited plan will cover US based calls with no roaming or long distance charges. The plan will be open to standard phones only, PDA’s, smartphones and the iphone are left out. Overall it seems Helio has the closest offer to unlimited, which includes both calling and data. Of course a calling plan technically is for calling. Posted Feb 19th 2008 3:06PM by Darren MurphFiled under: Displays, HDTV, Wireless We knew Hitachi’s Ultra Thin HDTV family would boast ultra-wideband technology, and while little was said about this aspect during CES, we’ve now learned that Tzero will be responsible for handling the aforementioned UWB duties. As expected, the UT HDTVs will “be able to receive high-definition video wirelessly from any HDMI equipped audio / video component,” as Tzero promises that users will see transmission speeds of up to 480Mbps. Turn your boring monitor into an HDTV

Turn your boring monitor into an HDTV

While I love my tech toys, I’ve not taken the plunge and purchased an HDTV. I can’t really justify such a purchase, as I don’t spend a ton of time in the living room watching TV. I have a 22-inch monitor in my office that I’ll play movies on and watch the occasional show on, but that’s about it. Thanks to Asus, I’ll be able to use that same monitor to enjoy HDTV if I choose. The new Asus HDTV Suite-HDMI is a standalone box that essentially turns your regular monitor into an HDTV with a resolution of 1920 x 1200. What’s interesting is that it claims to work an any screen 15-inches or bigger. (Read the full post about ‘Turn your boring monitor into an HDTV’…)

Turns out, said device finally has an appropriate name and price, but sadly, it still isn’t apt to head stateside. Nevertheless, the TG Favicon reportedly features a 532MHz Freescale CPU, TPEG navigation, dual DMB / PIP functionality, 4GB of internal storage space, an SD expansion slot and a 7-inch WVGA display. So, just how much coinage will you be asked to fork over to snag this beauty next time you’re in Seoul? (Read the full post about ‘TG’s Favicon PMP / navigator gets priced, even sexier’…)
