Turn your boring monitor into an HDTV

Written by admin on February 19th, 2008 in Gadgets.

While I love my tech toys, I’ve not taken the plunge and purchased an HDTV. I can’t really justify such a purchase, as I don’t spend a ton of time in the living room watching TV. I have a 22-inch monitor in my office that I’ll play movies on and watch the occasional show on, but that’s about it. Thanks to Asus, I’ll be able to use that same monitor to enjoy HDTV if I choose.

The new Asus HDTV Suite-HDMI is a standalone box that essentially turns your regular monitor into an HDTV with a resolution of 1920 x 1200. What’s interesting is that it claims to work an any screen 15-inches or bigger. The box also features a built-in TV engine which will feature “Advanced 3D Comb and Flesh Tone Correction for the best possible picture.

You’ll have a multitude of inputs which will work with anything you can possibly imagine from game consoles to Blu-ray players. You’ll have one each of HDMI, DVI/VGA, Line-in (PC Audio), VHF/UHF and S-Video & Composite & YPbPr for input. Output options are HDMI, DVI/VGA and Line-out (Earphone & Speaker). Unfortunately no information regarding pricing or availability was listed.
