Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T300 gets reviewed
Posted Mar 26th 2008 2:58PM by Donald MelansonFiled under: Digital Cameras We briefly got our hands on Sony’s DSC-T300 digital camera (along with a bevy of other Cyber-shots) back at PMA earlier this year, but the folks at Digital Photography Review have now come through with a thorough review of the camera which, among other things, is particularly notable for its use of touchscreen controls. On that important point, they found the controls “generally pleasant to use,” aided in no small part by the “largest possible screen for a camera of its size” (3.5 inches). They were also particularly impressed with the Cyber-shot’s “small, smart design” and its impressive 5x optical zoom. (Read the full post about ‘Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T300 gets reviewed’…)

16GB Samsung P2 now available from Best Buy Canada
Posted Mar 26th 2008 3:29PM by Donald MelansonFiled under: Portable Audio, Portable Video You may still not be able to get an iphone in Canada (at least officially), but you can now at least grab a spiffy new 16GB Samsung YP-P2, which is a whole 8GB bigger than the model currently available in the US. From the looks of it, Best Buy Canada is the among the first to offer the beefed-up, Bluetooth-packin’ PMP, with it currently demanding $330 Canadian (a $40 discount off the $370 list price) on the retailer’s website. Apart from the bump in storage, however, there doesn’t look to be any other changes to the player, with it boasting the same 3-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth 2.0 support, and H.264, OGG, and WMV playback as before. Laptop bag bonanza - best of the best, part 2 (one of these could be yours for free)
“CARRY WITH FUNS” (Look for this one as a giveaway in this week’s Popgadget Drop email. Not a subscriber yet? Takes only a second to sign up here.) You can’t help but smile when you see an E.Square Bag - the bright colors, the cheeky designs - but hiding under all that fun is a meticulously crafted, functional bag. I’ve been carrying my MacBook around in it for a week, and it’s comfortable (has a padded shoulder strap which I’ve come to learn is essential for a 13 lb.laptop). It sports padded pockets for all your electronics, plus essential outside pocket for easy access to travel docs. Kristina Kim, who founded the company with her husband says they “put fun prints on the bags in order to add splashes of colors” into our lives. NASA’s Chariot lunar vehicle gets demoed on video
Posted Mar 26th 2008 2:27PM by Donald MelansonFiled under: Transportation We’ve already gotten a pretty good idea of what NASA’s new Chariot lunar vehicle was capable of, but now thanks to NewScientist (and NASA itself) we’ve got a glimpse of the behemoth in action — on Earth, of course. As you can see for yourself after the break, the rig certainly looks to be quite capable of tearing it up on the lunar surface, with it boasting a plough to smooth things out for a moon base (or other potential lunar installations). Sony Ericsson T250i Review - 3G

Written by admin on Wednesday, March 26th, 2008 in Gadgets.

3G reviews the Sony Ericsson T250i and writes, “Considering its rookie-status, you can’t really complain about the VGA-style snapper. Understandably, the camera is bereft of any on-board settings or picture enhancements, so it’s a case of point, shoot and hope. Wallpapering and MMS is the most you can hope for from this bare-bones shutterbug.”

Western Digital has announced My Passport Elite, a new portable hard drive which is available in a 250BG and 350GB storage capacity. WD is touting this new portable hard drive as easy to grip, comfortable to hold and a beautiful device to show off to your friends. But the best part perhaps of this new portable hard drive is its size which is small enough to fit in one’s pocket.

Could you imagine yourself having 320GB of photos, audio and video files inside your pocket? Even more absurd and yet useful is the fact that you can carry it anywhere you go and plug it into any compatible PC and laptop anytime, anywhere?

ASCII curtains let you get geeky with home decor

Written by admin on Wednesday, March 26th, 2008 in Gadgets.

Take a look at the curtain above. You are probably thinking - on a perfectly sunny day, perhaps the tree behind cast its shadow over the curtain, giving it the beautiful breezy look, right? Wrong. Take a look at the picture below.

The image in the curtain is actually made out of plain old ASCII characters! Designed by a dutch artist genius Nieke Sybrandy, they are unfortunately not yet available for sale.

Intel’s Smartbook, formerly know as the Netbook, Eco PC, 2go PC

Intel’s Smartbook, formerly know as the Netbook, Eco PC, 2go PC
With all these names, it seems that Intel’s latest offering is similar to the Everex Cloudbook, which has had multiple variations (and names) depending on where in the world it was being released. The latest info on the Intel ultra-portable is that it is being called the Smartbook. Of course this comes just a short while after we saw those official looking press style pics and spec sheet for the 2go PC, which was a nice follow up to those cell phone style images that we saw of the Netbook (aka: Eco PC) a few weeks back. So are we talking about one notebook here, with one name, or a lineup? The latest information is claiming that the Smartbook has been released by FTEC in Malaysia and is aime (Read the full post about ‘Intel’s Smartbook, formerly know as the Netbook, Eco PC, 2go PC’…)

Gadgetell Unboxing: Maxtor OneTouch 4 Mini

Gadgetell Unboxing: Maxtor OneTouch 4 Mini
The Maxtor OneTouch 4 Mini is an incredibly lightweight and small, portable USB 2.0 External Hard Drive. What follows are pictures of the unboxing and my initial thoughts on this product. The un-openable blister-pack notwithstanding, the Maxtor is cleanly packaged, and carries only the essentials inside: Drive, Manual, and Cord. As you can see by looking at the comparison pictures below, the first comparing it to the trackpad on my MacBook Pro, and the second comparing it to the Airport Extreme, which is the same size as the mac mini, this is an incredibly portable hard drive. I could easily see myself taking this on trips to keep my Time Machine backups going. (Read the full post about ‘Gadgetell Unboxing: Maxtor OneTouch 4 Mini’…)
