The 360 Degree Mirror: Perfect gift for Mother’s Day

Written by admin on Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008 in Gadgets.

Mother’s day is already next month, more specifically on the second Sunday of May, which is on the 11th. If you want a simple yet useful gift, check out this peculiar mirror.

It has 7 mirrors in total, 3 in each side and 1 in the middle. All these mirrors mean that the person using it, won’t need (in theory) any help to take care of the hair, or make-up. To make everything more interesting, and give a bit of style, the central mirror has some lights.

Mounts with suction cups or screws.

Google Docs Offline being rolled out

Written by admin on Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008 in Gadgets.

Google Docs proved (at least for me and others I know) that for a significant portion of what we use office productivity software is relatively simple and does not usually require full-blown, feature rich suites like MS Office, or OpenOffice. While I found that using GD was not an issue as I regularly have high-speed Internet access (@ work and @ home), it did lack what the other suites provided which was offline use (like say when I’m on a plane or at an airport refusing to pay $12 for 24 hours of Internet access).

Now get ready for Offline Google Docs. All you will need to do is download and install a browser plugin called Google Gears, which already has me wondering what other applications Google has in mind for your browser.

Buffalo brings LinkTheater HD media streamer to these shores

Buffalo brings LinkTheater HD media streamer to these shores
Posted Apr 1st 2008 4:53PM by Donald MelansonFiled under: HDTV, Home Entertainment Buffalo let loose a pair of LinkTheater HD media streamers in Japan late last year, and it looks like it’s now finally decided to bring a little of that HD-streaming ’round here. Unfortunately, for some reason, it’s only decided to bring over the wired-only LT-H90LAN model, and not the WiFi-packin’ LT-H90WN model that our Japanese friends get to enjoy. If that’s not too much of a trade-off for you, however, you can expect the same 720p and 1080i output as before, along with support for streaming of a wide variety of content from both Macs and PCs, as well as USB hard drives and DLNA-compliant media servers. iwavecube Personal Microwave
What’s the best cube accessory for any geek, well… second best behind a wet bar in the cube that is? A Personal Microwave! You no longer need to use the USB coffee warmers all day long but can actually warm up your cup in your own microwave. How about changing the fragrance of your office space by popping some microwave popcorn at 9 in the morning! Found a weird bug outside your cube walls? Create some entertainment in your cube by zapping it. You can do all this and more with the innovative iwavecube Personal Microwave. Innovative? But it’s just a microwave right? Sure it has all the electronic controls and safety feature you would expect, but this microwave takes up less than a cubic foot of space. (Read the full post about ‘iwavecube Personal Microwave’…)

The W.E. Phone — OpenMoko-based Android device?

The W.E. Phone — OpenMoko-based Android device?
Posted Apr 1st 2008 4:04PM by Nilay PatelFiled under: cellphones We’re not too sure what to make of Koolu’s Works Everywhere (W.E.) phone, but if the company actually manages to deliver on its spec sheet, we’ll be duly impressed. It looks like the W.E. will run Android on top of a newer rev of OpenMoko’s Neo1973 / FreeRunner hardware, with a VGA screen, 400Mhz processor, tri-band cell radio, WiFi, 256MB of flash, GPS, and MicroSD expansion, but we’re not buying it when the company promises compatibility with 700MHz networks in the future — Verizon hasn’t really said what system it’s going to deploy on its new spectrum. What’s more, the website says the W.E. (Read the full post about ‘The W.E. Phone — OpenMoko-based Android device?’…)

Dental Insert Microphone gives you Bluetooth, quite literally

Dental Insert Microphone gives you Bluetooth, quite literally
Chinavasion, a company known for churning out sometimes bizarre and sometimes novel little gadgets, now brings us a cellphone accessory to show just how literally they take certain things. For what better way is there to celebrate having a Bluetooth headset and mic pair for your phone than wearing the microphone part inside your own tooth? I think it’s an engineering marvel. Seriously though, I have to admit this is still convenient. Of course you’d worry about the microphone being soaked up in saliva after some time, but the durable composite resin filling protects it from harm. It works with any Bluetooth capable phone or Bluetooth handsfree and won’t worry you about charging. (Read the full post about ‘Dental Insert Microphone gives you Bluetooth, quite literally’…)
