3G Apple iPhone will have GPS

Written by admin on Saturday, April 26th, 2008 in Gadgets.

It’s not exactly clear here, but either the iPod Observer and/or Engadget has a source that says the 2nd generation of the iphone will be a 3G phone and will have GPS, real GPS that is, and not the triangulation stuff they do with now with cell towers. It will be a bit thicker and could ship as early as July.

HP Mini-Note 8.9″ Aluminum Laptop
Finally, the US gets it! Geeks are moving from the high end performance (and heavy) laptops to the ultra-portables in droves. While this market has been hot in other countries throughout Europe as well as the Asian markets including Japan, it took the Asus Eee PC to ignite the passion for ultra-portables here. While the Asus Eee PC is definitely a rocking ultra-portable, the resolution of the monitor and the small solid state hard drive were an inhibitor for me and others. HP has answered with a tiny laptop called the HP Mini-Note Laptop which comes with a high-res 8.9″ 1280 x 768 display, a 120GB hard drive and a 92% of full-sized keyboard in cased in an all-aluminum case. Gryphon goes on a diet, gets ready for war
Back in 06 we reported on the ESG Gryphon Personal Flying Wing, and it had military applications written all over it, or, a cool opening scene to the next James Bond Flick. The latest version, rechristened the Gryphon Attack Glider by SPELLCO (the new company name), has slimmed down the weight by 30 pounds and also offers the ability to carry up to 100 pounds of onboard gear and even carry weapons hard points for mini missiles and bombs. Yowsa. And with a maximum glide speed of 135 MPH, that makes this not only an attack glider, but a serious special ops platform for attacking well behind enemy lines. Pilots wear a specially designed helmet that offers a heads-up display and provides on-board oxygen for those high altitude HALO JUMPS. TomTom updates 2nd edition Rider with essential components
The TomTom 2nd Edition Rider is a GPS for people who mostly use a motorcycle as their means of transportation. TomTom did not add a lot of key features present in their normal, automobile GPS models, and so, with this update comes many features missing in the 2nd Edition Rider. Some of the main features included in this update are Map Share, the Help Me! menu, which is a safety feature to try and help when needed, map guarantees, and Tele Atlas maps which cover Western and Eastern Europe, and they come pre-installed. Another cool update is that you can find out the stats of your trip, such as average and max speeds, total distance traveled, as well as the distance from the starting point. Merger setback? Blockbuster cannot finance Circuit City acquistion
As we previously reported, video rental giant Blockbuster has been looking to acquire electronics giant Circuit City. Blockbuster has already offered a whopping $1 billion, but reports are flying in, saying that they cannot fund such a hefty offer. In an official statement from the company, Circuit City said: “Circuit City awaits a viable financing structure that is predictably executable by Blockbuster given its current constraints of size and capital structure before it would be appropriate to allow further due diligence.” While this may be just another attempt to stop the merger in its tracks, Blockbuster has no resistance to going hostile in the bid. More on this as it happens. (Read the full post about ‘Merger setback? Blockbuster cannot finance Circuit City acquistion’…)

LG LTM9000

LG LTM9000
Every once in a while, some device comes along that makes me say, “That is so obvious! I should have thought of that. Then I could have got rich off of the patent”. Such is the case with LG’s LTM9000, which is simply a microwave oven with a toaster attached to it. Considering that most of us use the microwave and the toaster in the same room, it really isn’t rocket science to put the two together. I’m sure you’re probably wondering why you didn’t think of such an obvious improvement to the kitchen. The LG LTM9000 has 900 watts of power for the microwave, and about 800 watts for the toaster. The toaster can toast at nine levels, which will hopefully be better than what most toasters can do. (Read the full post about ‘LG LTM9000′…)
