Sleep easier with the SleepMate

Sleep easier with the SleepMate
I’ve never figured out how people can go to sleep with the TV on. Unless I’m completely exhausted when falling into bed, the only thing the TV will do is keep me up even longer. I usually get interested in whatever is on and just end up watching the whole thing. I also don’t like complete silence, so I opt to keep a fan running in my bedroom. If you’re looking for something a little more fancy to keep a little noise going in your bedroom while keeping it fairly quiet, then check out the SleepMate. The SleepMate uses white noise which will help cancel out noises in your bedroom. While it won’t likely won’t help with neighbors banging on the wall, it should keep most quieter noises from reaching your ears. (Read the full post about ‘Sleep easier with the SleepMate’…)

Nokia N82 awarded Best Mobile Imaging Device in Europe by TIPA
Among the many large lens photo capturing contraptions listed in TIPA’s (Technical Image Press Association) web page for “The Most Coveted Photo & Imaging Awards in Europe” for 2008, the Nokia N82 is a stand-out. I’ve never known what the criteria for judging is for this thing, but I’m sure they have a pretty strict list of guidelines for it. And so it seems, the Nokia N82 passed all the tests, and won the award for “Best Mobile Imaging Device in Europe 2008.” I’m sure a lot of SE, Samsung, or LG users would favor their own devices, but it’s hard to question why the Nokia N82 won. Pyramid LED MoodiCare Clock
They say that pyramids hold some sort of mystical (positive) power, so for the superstitious among us, why not settle for a tiny pyramid beside your bed? The Pyramid LED MoodiCare Clock will be able to get all you sleepers out of bed on time thanks to a built-in alarm clock, displaying the time, date and week so that you will be able to keep track of the next big date in your calendar. I suppose in a sense it helps add some positive vibes to your life since you won’t be late in getting up. The alarm function features 8 songs, while seven LED backlight colors help jive up your room at night. Powered by a trio of AAA batteries, the Pyramid LED MoodiCare Clock will retail for $12 a pop.

Grand Theft Auto - the clean version?

Written by admin on Monday, May 5th, 2008 in Gadgets.

As you are well aware, the Grand Theft Auto series of video games have had notorious publicity over the years due to its violence, language and even sexual content. With the recent release of GTA IV, the Conan O’Brien show decided to put together a spoof video of what GTA might be like if it was a ‘kinder, gentler, toned down’ version. It’s pretty funny.

The Engineers at Tecnologia Aeroespacial Mexicana seem to have a death wish. And it’s usually associated with rocket powered flight. Fresh off their James Bond-esque rocket jet pack design, TAM has announced the design of a rocket powered helicopter backpack which will enable rotor driven Rocketeers to jump into the sky and head anywhere in total freedom. Or kill themselves in a spectacular event only director John Landis could appreciate.

Dubiously named the Libelula, the helicopter backpack has tiny rocket motors in its rotor blades which not only eliminates the torque associated with helicopters with conventional tail rotor assemblies that stabilize flight, but also enables the system to be compact to wear on a pilot/soldier’s back for instant takeoff from anywhere.

Bezos tries to Kindle renewed interest in e-book reader
It sounds like a re-launch; an open letter this week on the Amazon.com website from founder/CEO Jeff Bezos announcing that his Kindle book reader is “in stock and ready for immediate shipment.” Never mind that the electronic, wireless reader was actually ready to ship in November 2007, garnering headlines at the time in all the major national daily newspapers and the cover of Time Magazine. Bezos’ big bet on e-reading sells for $399, weighs just over 10 ounces, is as wide as a trade paperback and uses cell phone networks to wirelessly download books, magazines, newspapers and blogs from Amazon’s library. Could these be images of the upcoming next-gen 3G iPhone

Could these be images of the upcoming next-gen 3G iPhone
While these images seem realistic, they could be a mix of just about anything from a Photoshop job to simply being an iPhone knock-off. One thing that is for sure is that these next-gen 3G iphone rumors and sightings are not going to stop until the official announcement comes. The latest sighting consists of two images and comes courtesy of iPhon.fr, who claim that they cannot verify the source of the images, so take them for what they are worth. Whether real or faked, they certainly look a little more in the ballpark than the last “leaked” image that turned out to be nothing more than a new back piece being sold in Hong Kong. Cassette MP3 Player

Cassette MP3 Player
This is a wacky little gadget. As a standalone device, it’s actually an mp3 player. It has a headphone jack and plays MP3s off of the external SD or MMC memory card (unfortunately you have to supply your own) that you slot into the bottom of it. The other crazy use is that it functions like a regular cassette - just stick it into your home or car’s tape player and away you go. This is a great little piece of functional retro-art that might date you a little or just make you look cool/weird. Its built-in battery is charged up via USB and it’s compatible with Win2000/XP. Get your movies from iTunes the same day as the DVD release

Get your movies from iTunes the same day as the DVD release
Earlier this year the epic battle for the next-gen disc technology was finally ended with Blu-ray becoming the victor. However, I’m still not convinced that a new disc technology is what the industry really needs. With high-speed internet more widely available than ever before and hard drive sizes reaching over 1TB, it only seems logical that we’ll turn to digital distribution with movies, just as we’ve done with music. Once again, Apple is making strides that will no doubt help us along that path. Apple has announced that they have worked with a number of studios (both big and small) too make sure that many movies will be available on iTunes the same day they are released on DVD.
