Rock Port, MO is first US town to be Wind-powered

Written by admin on Wednesday, May 7th, 2008 in Gadgets.

In what is a great first, Rock Port, Missouri became the first US town to be completely powered by wind energy. They now have 4 wind turbines generating 16 Gigawatts of power annually (they require about 13). Granted that Rock Port is a relatively small town with a population of under 1400, this move demonstrates that alternative energies are not just talk and dreams.

Samsung F110 miCoach Review - Mirror

Written by admin on Wednesday, May 7th, 2008 in Gadgets.

Mirror reviews the Samsung F110 miCoach and writes, “The phone itself boasts a 2MP camera, GPRS, EDGE and Bluetooth connectivity (but no 3G), 1GB of storage and an FM radio. And, while it’s no substitute for a flesh-and-blood personal trainer, the shameful stats the miCoach provided this reviewer with certainly helped motivate him to start working out more regularly…Relatively easy to use, the fitness features are certainly no gimmick, and anyone looking to get in shape should find it useful.”

Disney / Thinkway Toys’ Ultimate WALL-E robot cleans up on camera
by Darren Murph, posted May 6th 2008 at 7:50AM Alright, so maybe the recently announced Ultimate WALL-E robot doesn’t actually get down and dirty on video, but he does maintain a pretty positive attitude after being poked, prodded and generally invaded for a full five minutes. HTC Touch Diamond hands-on
by Joshua Fruhlinger, posted May 6th 2008 at 9:57AM We had a little thumb-print orgy with the new HTC Touch Diamond immediately following its launch. Light and small, the Touch Diamond comes off as a unit with promise. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait a while to get our hands on this via a US carrier, but Orange users in the UK will no doubt be pretty happy with this new handset, the first of its kind to use Windows Mobile 6.1.Check out the gallery below, complete with comments and interface walk-through. Winter The Bionic Dolphin

Written by admin on Wednesday, May 7th, 2008 in Gadgets.

Poor little Winter got her tail caught in a crab trap which got her dolphin tail cut off, leaving Winter swimming around with a stump for a rear.

While many would think it’s nothing (after all, the dolphin CAN still swim and humans can stay alive without a lim or two), vets fear that Winter might damage her spinal cord with the way she’s able to develop her own swimming style which doesn’t involve a tail. So, they called in Kevin Carroll, a prosthetics designer which has done bionic limbs for other animals. It took him one a half year to come up with the perfect tail, but now Winter is swimming just like any other dolphin. You can see the 30-inch silicon prosthetic below.

World to Jerry Yang, “you did what?”

World to Jerry Yang, “you did what?”
Yesterday, the mighty (or once mighty) Jerry Yang, CEO of Yahoo! wrote a blog post entitled, “Ok, so now what?”.  The post was what you would think a CEO might write about his actions under the Microsoft microscope and hopes for a bright future.  One of the fun thing about blogging is the response it invites.  The response Mr. Yang got is rather interesting: No wonder Yahoo has crumbled as much and as fast as it has. You’ve all been “Yanged.” Yahoo is now a case study Internet misleadership. Jerry Yang is out of touch with the real world You should have sold. You still don’t have a solid plan for competing with Google Millions of shareholders and their investment have been destroyed by your incompetent choices and greed.
