What Could Best Buy Do For Netflix?

What Could Best Buy Do For Netflix?
Rumors have been circulating around the tech industry that Best Buy could be planning a buy out of mail movie rental service Netflix. AlleyInsider claims that Best Buy has been mulling the idea over to purchase the company for $44 a share, yet what could Best Buy’s purchase mean for the popular service? Netflix has been touted as the superior of the mail rental services (mostly compared with Blockbuster Online), and some are hesitant to think that a buy out from Best Buy would be the best decision for the service. Of course, this all depends on how Best Buy would handle things if a Netflix acquisition were to take place. So what could Best Buy actually do for Netflix that hasn’t already been done? SwissBike Folding System

SwissBike Folding System
Seems the getting a bicycle these days is the trendy thing to do. The SwissBike Folding System adds another choice for folks who want to get around places without burning up additional fossil fuel. Most bicycles that claim to be extremely portable, i.e. folding bikes, tend to look really ugly as though a maniac took a hacksaw and had a field day with the bike’s frame, cutting it in half while adding a hinge to allow them to fold. With the SwissBike Folding System, this is very different as it does not lose the bike’s torsional rigidity, thanks to its patented F.I.T. system developed by Montague engineers. SpinVox - voicemail to text service

Written by admin on Monday, May 19th, 2008 in Gadgets.

I’m amazed at how many of these companies there are. Here’s another one called SpinVox. Pretty much like Simulscribe and Nuance. About $10/mo for 40 or 50 voicemails transcribed and sent as a text message to your phone.

Watch Tracker tells time, tracks movements and fends off potential friends
by Darren Murph, posted May 17th 2008 at 7:03AM To be fair, we haven’t really noticed a GPS watch that wasn’t at least somewhat unsightly, but the Sport Genius Watch Tracker does a phenomenal job at exemplifying ugly. Reportedly, the conglomerate not only tells time, but the built-in GSM / GPS modules enable it to make and receive calls, track your movements and beam out your current location via SMS in case you find yourself in a pickle. It also provides the means for logging runs and points of interest, and you can supposedly upload the data to mapping software to get a visual on what you accomplished. Word on the street has it that this particular wristwatch should be available on the streets (Read the full post about ‘Watch Tracker tells time, tracks movements and fends off potential friends’…)

Make use of that old cassette player with a Bluetooth adapter

Written by admin on Monday, May 19th, 2008 in Gadgets.

How many of you still listen to your old cassette tapes? I’m going to guess that very few of you do. Now, how many of you still have a tape deck in your car? While many people have upgraded to a CD player, not everyone has managed to do so. That’s why you might want to look into this Bluetooth Cassette Tape Adapter.

I remember back when portable CD players became popular, they started selling cassette tape adapters that would hook into them. This works on the same principal, only instead of running a cord to your old CD player, it connects to your mp3 player via Bluetooth.

Samsung shows off a 82″ OLED TV with Backlight

Samsung shows off a 82″ OLED TV with Backlight
At CES this year, Sony showed off their 1st OLED (Organic LED) TV that will go on sale, except it was a puny 11″ screen. It was a sweet looking TV though at 3mm thick and with a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1. But who wants 11″ of OLED when they can get 50″ of Plasma for the same price? Now Samsung just showed off an 82″ OLED with backlighting. We may even start seeing some more reasonably sized screens coming to stores soon as well. Essentially, it’s not a question of technology but of economics - scale and cost. via TV Snob. (Read the full post about ‘Samsung shows off a 82″ OLED TV with Backlight’…)
