Moog offers up Paul Vo Collector Edition guitar
by Darren Murph, posted Jun 8th 2008 at 2:24PM With a name like Moog, it has to be good, no? The creator of all types of unusual and wondrous music makers has stepped up with the Paul Vo Collector Edition guitar, a fanciful six-string that does quite a bit more than just light up whatever amp is lucky enough to receive its vibes. Constructed from premium grade mahogany, the instrument affords players full sustain, controlled sustain and mute modes to crank out all sorts of atypical tones, and just in case those few don’t get your juices flowin’, you’ll be happy to know that there’s loads more where that came from. Granted, this gem will cost you a stiff $6,495, but considering the amazing amount of utility (Read the full post about ‘Moog offers up Paul Vo Collector Edition guitar’…)

Live images, specs of the Philips X800

Live images, specs of the Philips X800
Live leaked images are typically something that come as a welcomed event, and in the case of the X800 from Philips the handset has a decent look but sadly that is where it stops. It simply does not have the specs to match the design as its missing some important support. The handset is missing something that many have just come to expect, especially considering it offers such a large (2.9-inch) touchscreen display. It is lacking support for WLAN, 3G and even EDGE. This handset was officially announced by Philips back in May, along with the Xenium X-Connect, but they have still not released any further information regarding pricing or availability. Sci Fi Channel to make MMORPG/TV series

Written by admin on Sunday, June 8th, 2008 in Gadgets.

The Sci Fi Channel is working on creating possibly a brand new genre of video game or television series depending on how you want to look at it. Basically, they’ve put video game designers and television writers together to come up with a product that is both a tv series as well as a massive multiplayer game (MMORPG).

While you may be salivating at the thought of this, you’ll have to wait a bit as the target launch date isn’t until 2010. I have to admit I’m looking forward to this, as I think it’ll will be even more immersive than either a video game or a tv show can be by themselves.

Palm Centro Review - CNET UK

Palm Centro Review - CNET UK
CNET UK reviews the Palm Centro and writes, “On the consumer front, there’s a basic 1.3-megapixel camera that doesn’t do anything spectacular. You can shoot pictures and video and send them to friends via Bluetooth, email or MMS. Palm hasn’t included an LED photo light or a xenon flash, which is unfortunate for those wishing to take pictures in less than sunny conditions.” Read more about the Palm Centro. CallerID comes to US based Skype users

CallerID comes to US based Skype users
CallerID has become something that, while not always accurate we have come to take for granted. As nice as a service that Skype has been, it has been more than a little annoying to send or receive a SkypeOut call and see “+0000123456” on the CallerID display. Now US based SkypeOut users will be able to configure their own number to display. Simply login to your Skype account and set the number by selecting Caller ID from the Account menu. You can set the number to reflect your personal cell number, which will send you an SMS message to confirm that you are not spoofing the ID display or if you already have a SkypeIn number that will be reflected by default. Leonardo DiCaprio to star in Atari founder biopic
by Joshua Topolsky, posted Jun 8th 2008 at 4:27PM Like something out of Bizzaro World, word on the street is that hunky dreamboat Leonardo DiCaprio will play Atari uber-nerd Nolan Bushnell in an upcoming biopic. According to reports, the film will detail Bushnell’s life from his early work at amusement parks, through founding Atari and eventually building the Chuck E. Cheese’s empire in a “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington meets Tucker” fashion. We understand there will be a thrilling montage where Bushnell soundly defeats every Atari staff member at Pong, then builds the first animatronic Jasper T. Jowls with spare parts from a 1976 Impala.Read PermalinkEmail this27 CommentsFiled under: Misc. (Read the full post about ‘Leonardo DiCaprio to star in Atari founder biopic’…)

Has the FCC leaked the T-Mobile Shadow II?

Has the FCC leaked the T-Mobile Shadow II?
While the FCC images usually keep most of the details tight and secure, this latest bit of information seems to be holding a little more than usual. We have here what we can only guess is the successor to the Shadow, which is officially known as the HTC CONV100 and will hit the market as the Shadow II. While the details are light, it looks like the Shadow II will offer up a nice set of improvements and include an 1100mAh battery, as well as Windows Mobile 6.1 out of the box. In addition, it is also expected to include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and come in either silver or black. As you would expect with the FCC information, pricing and availability timeframe still remains as much as mystery as it was before. Silicon wafer directs and filters out cancer cells

Silicon wafer directs and filters out cancer cells
by Joshua Fruhlinger, posted Jun 8th 2008 at 10:16AMNormally we get excited when a slab of silicon makes our games run at 60 frames per-second, but in this case we’re impressed with a new chip that filters out cancer cells. The device, created by some impressive souls at Princeton and Boston University, directs and focuses streams of cells in a liquid. Like a change sorter, it then separates regular cells form unusual ones. The silicon wafer is tacked with tiny pillars that catch abnormal cells that are, in the end, potentially cancerous. The device hasn’t been used to any major extent, but we’ll keep an eye on this promising discovery.PermalinkEmail this14 CommentsFiled under: Misc. The USB Butterfly Webcam

The USB Butterfly Webcam
If you’re tired of boring gray and black electronics this cute little butterfly will be a refreshing change.  That is if you’re female, I doubt many guys would be overly pleased by a brightly colored butterfly webcam.  Then again I’m sure there are at least a couple exceptions to that.  The webcam easily attaches to the back of your laptop and peers over the top of it to catch a glimpse of you while you type away at whoever you may be broadcasting to.
