HTC developing Atom- and Snapdragon-based MIDs?
by Nilay Patel, posted Jun 16th 2008 at 8:51PMHTC’s hit us with some sexy new handsets lately, but a new report from DigiTimes says that the juggernaut ODM is getting ready to make some MID waves, and soon. Apparently inspired by the success of the Eee (who hasn’t been?), HTC is rumored to be prepping devices based on Intel’s Atom and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon platforms, as well as up to 10 new phones in the second quarter of the year — which, conveniently enough, is this quarter. AdderLink X-DVI KVM sends DVI / USB over single CAT6 cable

Written by admin on Monday, June 16th, 2008 in Gadgets.

by Darren Murph, posted Jun 16th 2008 at 6:41PMApologies for the onslaught of acronyms up there, but here’s the skinny: Adder has just loosed its AdderLink X-DVI, which claims to be the “world’s first extender to send both USB and DVI signals over the same CAT6 cable.” Reportedly, the KVM supports the extension of USB keyboards / mice and high-definition video over distances up to 165-feet, and just in case any updates make their way down in the future, the unit is “fully flash upgradeable.” There’s nary a mention of price, but it should be available through various worldwide distribution partners this fall.

Fujitsu T5010 tablet PC breaks cover at university bookstore
by Donald Melanson, posted Jun 16th 2008 at 5:43PM Fujitsu doesn’t seem to have gotten official with it just yet but, if the Virginia Tech University bookstore is any indication, it looks like the company is all but set to launch its new T5010 tablet pc. Assuming their specs are on the mark, you can apparently look forward to this one packing a 13.3-inch LED backlit WUXGA display, 2GB of RAM, an unspecified 45nm Core 2 Duo processor, a 120GB hard drive, the usual integrated Intel graphics, and a built-in DVD burner — plus the standard built-in webcam and fingerprint reader. All that’ll set you back $1,999 (including an HP all-in-one printer). (Read the full post about ‘Fujitsu T5010 tablet PC breaks cover at university bookstore’…)

Segway sales hit all time high, thanks OPEC!

Segway sales hit all time high, thanks OPEC!
by Darren Murph, posted Jun 16th 2008 at 8:54AM We get that rising gas prices are putting folks in a world of hurt, but has it really gotten so bad that we’re resorting to losing our dignity riding Segways? According to a recent writeup in The Wall Street Journal, “sales at Segway Inc. have risen to an all-time high,” and CEO Jim Norrod fully expects sales this quarter to “jump 50% from a year earlier.” Not surprisingly, many of its new customers are universities and public service divisions who are replacing traditional vehicles with the all-electric scooters, but we still get the impression that individuals are steering clear due to its remarkably high price and laughable design. Momenta Next Generation PC
Did you ever feel like you are so into your computer that it practically has you by the throat? Well, this next generation Momenta is designed to sits around your throat. Yes, that collar that this woman is wearing is a PC. I’m sure you are wondering how it can function without any type of visible display. There is apparently a projector in front of the apparatus, so your information will be seen on any nearby blank wall. The user can then touch the displayed screen, and the Momenta somehow knows where your fingers have been. The Momenta can also sync wirelessly with any display with wide coverage of 700 MHz. Another one of the more interesting features of this device is that it can record the last five minutes of your life. (Read the full post about ‘Momenta Next Generation PC’…)

Not content with dominating the PC and smartphone market in the realm of operating systems, Microsoft has apparently now set its sights on PNDs. Today the folks in Redmond announced a new OS aimed directly at GPS units, dubbed Windows Embedded NavReady 2009. The software is based on Windows Embedded CE, and combines navigation tools enriched with Live Search, MSN Direct, and Windows SideShow integration, coupled with an emphasis on Bluetooth connectivity. Motorola has new Bluetooth headsets

Motorola has new Bluetooth headsets
July 1st is the deadline where drivers in California and Washington are expected to ditch the habit of talking on their cell phones while driving if they want to avoid getting slapped by a hefty fine. Instead, they’ll need to resort to hands-free kits in order to carry on their conversations while being stationed behind the wheel, or simply rely on the cell phone’s built-in speakerphone function (if any). Motorola aims to take advantage of the situation by offering a couple of new Bluetooth headsets as both mentioned states join New York, New Jersey and Connecticut in allowing only hands-free phone use behind the wheel. Bio Infectious laptop sleeves
If the idea behind this bag design is to deter thieves, I think they’ve done a pretty good job. Whether you want to walk around looking like radioactive waste is up to you. That would be neoprene radioactive waste actually, since the sleeves are made of neoprene rubber. The 13″ sleeve goes for $34.95, the 14.1″ for $36.95, and the 15.4″ for $38.95 at Designer Sleeves. Behold! the bat phone; the Dark Knight-inspired Nokia 6205

Behold! the bat phone; the Dark Knight-inspired Nokia 6205
Do you remember the Iron Man phone, or perhaps the ultra-cool Star Wars phone that was released much earlier? Well, here comes another one of them - the Nokia 6205 which lives and breathe everything about Batman, the Dark Knight. We’re referring of course to the second film in the new Batman revival series which is slated for release on July 18. The Nokia 6205 bat phone will be available as early as Sunday exclusively on Verizon’s online store. Just like the superhero icon that the 6205 is promoting who doesn’t have that many superpowers, this phone doesn’t promise any usual features either.
