Roberts releases solarDAB: world’s first solar-powered DAB radio
by Darren Murph, posted Jul 1st 2008 at 12:35PM Roberts may get ridiculed for its design cues, but one thing’s for sure: it sticks to its guns. The latest patently ugly (but sort of cute) DAB radio to emerge from its lair is the solarDAB, which predictably gets energized by the sun. The unit packs a top-mounted solar panel along with a “level indicator on the display screen that shows the strength of the solar level being absorbed.” Once the rechargeable batteries are fully juiced, said radio will blast out tunes for a whopping 27 hours. Com One Bluetooth USB Adapter

Com One Bluetooth USB Adapter
I do most of my work on a laptop that I bought about two years ago. I don’t think it was a newer model, because it didn’t come with Bluetooth. Remember a few years ago when everyone was in a Bluetooth frenzy? These days, practically everything has Bluetooth as a standard feature, whether it needs it or not. Fortunately, companies like Com One is here for those who missed the Bluetooth train after purchasing a PC or laptop. Their Bluetooth USB Adapter plugs in, and can sync with Bluetooth devices. I had a chance to try out Com One’s Bluetooth USB Adapter, and now I am a Bluetooth addict. I was hoping that it would easily plug and play, but there was the obligatory CD that came with it. Monster Screen Portable DVD Player

Monster Screen Portable DVD Player
Here’s a portable DVD player that ditches the traditional 7″ screen size in favor of a much larger 12.5″, although that would translate to more weight for you to lug around. This amazing unit will take care of all of your entertainment requirements. With a built-in battery, this unit is completely mobile and will give you hours of fun on the roar or in the park. Charging can be achieved by car or mains power adapters so you’ll always be close to supplementary power sources. Keep everyone happy with a huge variety of inputs and media formats including VGA and NES emulation. You can pick this up for $196.69 a pop, and it gets cheaper if you purchase more per order. Dash Navigation updates Dash Express

Dash Navigation updates Dash Express
Dash Navigation has made available an update for the Dash Express, making it the first Internet-connected automotive GPS device from its stable that allows one to wirelessly update the device software without having to purchase upgrades separately while going through the hassle of installing them through a PC or DVD download later on. All you need to do is turn on your Dash Express and the updating process will kick in - provided you’re within range of a compatible Wi-Fi network, that is. Sounds like a no-brainer to me, somewhat akin to Windows XP’s Automatic Updates. Check out the new features that comes with the update right after the jump. Sony Mylo COM-2 get software update; adds video recording, 16GB memory card support, more
Coming just a few months after the last software update for the Mylo COM-2, Sony has just released yet another update. This brings the version up to 1.201 and should be well worth the time it takes to update. The new version of software offers a few big items which include support for video recording and the ability to support Memory Stick Duo memory cards up to 16GB in size. In addition the update also includes some other notable items which include: Adds a new menu option for easier photo and video uploading Provides an “Optimize” option in Task Manager for system memory Adds a function to format Memory Stick Duo media Adds the ability to display thumbnail images in the Game menu Improves Flash playback of YouTube videos Coming in at just about 60MB, the update is slightly large, but like I mentioned it seems to be a worthwhile update. BlackBerry Bold for Rogers gets a release date
The blackberry Bold is having it’s trouble with a US release date, AT&T has been rumored to have pushed it’s launch into August, but it is right on track with our Canadian neighbors. Rogers has announced that the Bold will be available on July 25. It looks like those “by-invitation-only” launch parties were indeed the path that was needed to see the official release. However, before we get excited, Rogers has not yet announced any pricing, lets just hope it is fair and we do not see another revolt.
