Flying Chute Car may be green, but it’s also suicidal

Flying Chute Car may be green, but it’s also suicidal
Have you seen those crazy parachute planes that combine a propeller driven engine with a chute and allows bored weekend warriors to kill themselves without a pilot’s license? Well, now there’s a company taking the next “logical” step by creating a flying dune buggy that does the same thing - kill a reckless driver and anyone else who is unfortunate enough to be on the groud when this 2500 pound rock drops on their heads. The specs on this supposed green death trap are as follows: it powered by a biodiesel-modified motorcycle engine, has a take-off distance of less than 200 meters and a top speed of almost 70MPH. USB-powered HEAT ME stirrer: a coffee addict’s dream

We’ll go ahead and squash your hopes before you waste time pulling out the plastic — this thing’s just a concept, at least for now. From what we can glean, the HEAT ME is a fantastic device just waiting to be snapped up by Brando (or similar) and turned into the next must-have USB-powered gizmo. Put simply, the metal ends of this here stick warm up when plugged into your USB port, thus giving you a toasty wand to keep your hot tea / coffee at the proper temperature even when colleagues pull you away momentarily. Force Unleashed coming to the iPhone

Force Unleashed coming to the iPhone
At E3, our friends at Crunchgear saw a really cool app for the iPhone - the latest LucasArts and THQ Wireless’ mega blockbuster video game Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, has been ported to it. It looks to be really seamless and LucasArts has gotten around the iPhone’s sole multi-touch interface rather nicely. Players can’t use the accelerometer for anything other than changing from portrait to landscape, but users can actually control the Sith apprentice by running their finger in a manner suggested by the game in order to create the needed moves. An upside down sort of “plus sign” (where you keep your finger on the screen) will signal the apprentice to force choke the bad guys, then swapping from one side of the screen to the other will tell him where to toss his victims like rag dolls. Brando’s Mushroom Desk Mini Cleaner

Brando’s Mushroom Desk Mini Cleaner
Although Brando doesn’t make even the slightest hint that they were intending to make a Mario Bros reference with these little desk cleaners, the mushrooms still have a great deal of appeal to those loving the classic game.  If your cubicle has been looking overly dusty lately, these can suck up dust, hair, and even cigarette ashes.  They do mention that one for your car, but we all know the one time you’d really love to have a cigarette is right in the middle of your office when your boss is driving you nuts. Canon’s newest great is a relief for those missing the 200mm f/1.8L lens
Just about anyone who has ever shot a wedding or a sporting event and tried desperately to get that almost unattainable shot loved their Canon 200mm f/1.8L lens. It offered up a great combination of focal length and aperture speed which made those otherwise unattainable shots possible. So, back in 2003 when Canon went and announced they were actually discontinuing that lens, you could practically hear the tears and shocked gasps of photographers around the globe. Now, finally, five years later, Canon announced the replacement for this legendary lens: the Canon 200mm f/2L IS.  Can you almost hear the crowds clapping in glee? Now, anyone that was upset by the f/1.8L being replaced, Canon more than made up for it with the f/2. Royal Poker Eyewear

Royal Poker Eyewear
There is a reason why the term poker face means never letting your facial expression betray you, and a pair of poker eyewear will go a long way in helping you maintain such a look. Royal Poker Eyewear just raised the stakes with the launch of a new line of revolutionary state-of-the-art poker glasses, giving poker players a superior way to shield their eyes from opponents, without sacrificing vision and styleSun Wearing mirrored poker sunglasses puts opponents at a disadvantage, making it difficult for them to read your eyes and pick-up any give away “tells.” Until now, many so-called poker glasses were nothing more than re-packaged sunglasses with dark lenses that are not conducive to clubs, casinos, and dimly lit card rooms. Breaking: Gmail goes offline?

Breaking: Gmail goes offline?
For what seems like years, users have asked for gmail to be accessible offline and Google is finally going to acquiesce to their demands.  Coming in approx 6 months, both Gmail and Calendar will offer you the chance to move offline.  Early testers saw a dialogue box allowing them to save 3 months of appointments locally. Allowing these advances is something called Google Gears which exists to facilitate a smooth transition between online and offline realms.  We’ve expected good things from Google Gears for a while now, but it is good to see some progress later rather than never. This news comes from Andrew Fogg’s twitter (where I get all my news) and he warns that it may be just for enterprise users; he is not sure but did see a demo. Unlocked Slider Phone
Don’t ask me about the unconventional naming convention that this phone comes with, but like mom used to say - never judge a book by its cover. In this case, it would be unfair to diss a handset just because it is called an “Unlocked slider phone“. What’s more important are the specifications within, and without much further ado I bring you such information. 900MHz/1800 MHz GSM 2.2″ TFT LCD touch screen display at 320 x 240 resolution Bluetooth connectivity VGA camera with video recording function Voice recording capability Compatible with popular audio, video and image formats microSD memory card slot The unlocked slider phone will retail for $146.88 each, but it gets cheaper if you decide to place a bulk order.
